It can be a bit daunting to invite a stranger into your home and then, to make an unusual situation even weirder, imagine if your guest asked you to you to strip off your clothes and lie on a table!
In theory that’s what I do, but the reality is really different, so let me tell you exactly what to expect at your first session so that there are no surprises and you can start relaxing before I even arrive.
The most important thing to know about me is that I am always thinking in terms of functionality not appearance. I am not looking at the state of your house, I’m not thinking when you last emptied the bins and vacuumed the floor. I am thinking about which place is best to set up so that you are most relaxed and have the best experience.
And it’s the same when I get to know your body. For me, it is all about functionality – what you would like, what I think you need, and what I can do to help you and to run the session so that you are comfortable. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes (that’s the beauty of the human form!) and I am concentrating on how to help your body feel the best it can.
So, what happens when you have a massage?
I arrive and you let me know which room would be best to set up in.
I‘ll set up my table, put my hot rocks on to warm up and then leave the room while you get undressed (down to your underpants). You lie on the table on your front and put a towel over yourself. I will always knock before I come back in to make sure you have enough time to get comfortable.
We have a chat about what you would like and how I can help if you have any injuries or pain. Then I’ll get working while you get relaxing!
I ask you a few general health questions, start at the top and work my way down, explaining where I'm working before I start, and I won't go anywhere you're not comfortable with. If you're happy to, you'll turn over under the towel and we'll do the same lying face up.You will be covered at all times, including while you turn.
If at any stage you are uncomfortable, if the pressure is too much, if you would like me to push harder or if you are cold or hot please let me know. It’s all about your comfort and you getting the most out of your massage.
During the session if you would like to talk I’m always open to a chat, however if you prefer quietness I am more than happy to follow your lead. If you’re looking for a ‘day spa’ style experience at home click here for some ideas.
After the massage is finished I’ll leave the room again while you dress and then we can talk about any further stretches or exercises that will help you.
You pay me (cash, cheque or direct deposit); I give you a receipt and pack up, leaving you to enjoy the after-effects of your massage.
Have you ever had a massage at home before? What was your experience like?
